Palm Beach Zoo donating to Australian wildfire relief efforts

The Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is trying to do its part to help combat the Australian brushfire crisis. The Zoo will be providing emergency funding to help rescue koalas and other wildlife in Australia during the fires by donating one dollar of every paid general admission ticket to rescue and rehabilitation efforts.

The Zoo is also home to Queensland koalas Oz and Katherine. All of the proceeds from the Zoo’s Koala Experience will also be directed toward Australian wildfire relief. Funds collected online will be directed to the Zoos Victoria Bushfire Emergency Wildlife Fund.

“Unfortunately, our Queensland koalas are just one example of the many native species in need of our immediate action,” said Margo McKnight, president and CEO of Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society. “If we can’t rescue and restore the wildlife in Australia, we could lose them forever. “

Australia is estimating a loss of 800 million native animals in New South Wales and more than one billion nationally. To learn more and to donate visit https://www.palmbeachzoo.org/bushfire.
