The first thing you will need is a tent. Depending on how many people you plan on camping with, that number will dictate what size tent you need. You don’t have to break the bank either. You can buy a tent for as little as $30.
Next, you will need sleeping bags! This is optional, but if you want to make your camping experience a little more cozy…grab a sleeping bag to sleep inside your tent.
Unless you want to sit on the dirt ground or on hard logs, bring some chairs and a picnic table. Now you have a place to sit down with your dad and enjoy some hotdogs and hamburgers.
It gets pretty dark in the woods so you want to make sure you bring a flashlight or lantern. A lantern can come in handy for those late-night restroom breaks…because trust us, you’ll want to make sure you can see where you are going.
If you love toasty marshmallows as much as we do, make sure you have a fire starter kit to make a lot of delicious s’mores!
You are sure to get thirsty staying in the great outdoors for a night or two, so make sure to bring a canteen and a water filter.
If you’re planning to some hiking or canoeing, bring a first aid kit. Safety first!
Those are the essentials but you may also want to pack along these items:
- Pocket knife
- A camping pillow
- Navigation tool
- Rain jacket
- Firewood (if you want to make your trip a little easier)
- Trash bags
