How to properly retire your U.S. flag through the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (SOUTH FLORIDA WEEKEND) - Have you looked outside at your flag lately? Here’s your reminder to check and see what condition it’s in. It may be time for a new one!

According to the United States Flag Code, the flag should be retired when it’s not fit to be displayed. If it’s torn, tattered, or dirty and you can’t find a way to clean it or mend it, you should dispose of it properly.

The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County can help you retire your flag in a dignified way. All you have to do is head to any one of the seven Home Chemical and Recycling Centers and look for the disposal bins. If you drop off an American flag at one of these locations, the flag will be given a proper and honorable disposal.
