Saltine Toffee Cookies?! Yes Puh-Lease!
It’s that time of the year where we get out grandma’s box of handwritten holiday cookie recipes and start baking! We all have our favorites from ginger snaps to toasty macaroons. If you’ve lived in the south long enough, you’ll know that some recipes might seem a little odd or even experimental, but trust me, even the weird ones will bring a smile to your face after taking that first nibble.
Wanting to get that Salty Sweet satisfaction in one bite? Take a box of Saltines, some brown sugar and a stick of butter and you’ve got yourself an impressive batch of Saltine Toffee Cookies that Nobody can resist! They are easy to make and taste amazing. Enjoy!
Saltine Toffee Cookies
1 ½ sleeves of saltine crackers
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Line cookie sheet with saltine crackers in single layer.
In a saucepan combine the sugar and the butter. Boil rapidly for 3 minutes. Immediately pour over saltines and spread to cover crackers completely.
Bake for 5 minutes. Remove from oven, turn off oven. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Immediately put back into the hot oven for 3-5 minutes(until chocolate chips are melted.)
Spread melted chocolate and top with chopped nuts.
Cool completely and break into pieces.
