FOOTBALL SEASON: How to make festive cupcakes for your next tailgate

Football season is underway and you know what that means…time to EAT! Whether you’re at the game tailgating or hosting a party at home, delicious snacks and treats are a must-have for the ultimate football game-watching experience.

Nina’s Fresh Bakery showed the South Florida Weekend crew how to create a sweet dessert for your next tailgate party that is not only tasty, but festive during football season! These football cupcakes are sure to dazzle any crowd and will satisfy your sweet tooth after a long day of flipping burgers on the grill.

First things first — you will need to go to a craft store and get a frosting decorating bag plus a grass piping tip with multiple openings like this one on Amazon.┬áBake your cupcakes from scratch using this vanilla cupcake recipe from Nina or use a box mix, we won’t judge!

Let the cupcakes cool. Whip up your buttercream frosting with a few drops of green food coloring. Add the frosting to a decorating bag with the grass piping tip. Squeeze the frosting from the bag onto the cupcake in short, swift strokes until it looks like grass. You can mold fondant for the toppers to look like footballs or get some football toppers from your local party store like these.

Vanilla Cupcake Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
2 Eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup canola oil
2 tsp vanillla extract
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 cups cake flour
2 tsp baking powder

Buttercream Frosting Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups unsalted butter
5 cups confectioners sugar (sifted)
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp heavy cream
a few drops of green food coloring

DIRECTIONS:
Whip together the wet ingredients, add sugar and whip for 5 additional minutes. Add a few drops of green food coloring if you desire.
